Hubert House - as favoured by Channel Swimmers!

Christof Wandratsch - celebrating in our Coffee House  Christof Wandratsch, seen here celebrating in our coffee house, stayed with us in August 2005 when he set a new record by swimming the Channel in 7 hours 3 mins and 52 seconds... a spectacular 14 minutes faster than ever before (the previous record having been set back in 1994)!

Peter Hanson, co-owner of Hubert House, was privileged to support this record breaking swim from the pilot boat.

We are frequented by Alison Streeter - dubbed "queen of the channel" - and Kevin Murphy the once "king of the channel". Alison MBE has swam the channel 43 times and Kevin 33.

Hubert House has long been associated with Channel Swimmers, several of whom even mentioned their stays here in their books! E.G. Des Renford (sadly no longer with us) the remarkable Australian who swam the channel 19 times, in his book "Nothing Great Is Easy" & Tom Hetzel, the wonderful American (who swam it 8 times) in his book "Conquest of the English Channel".

Veljko Rogosic, the only Croatian so far to swim the channel & one of the all time great marathon swimmers, has stayed with us twice.

We very much hope to continue this involvement, especially as our co-owner Peter Hanson is a qualified swimming teacher who has been out in pilot boats to support Channel Swims. We now have a "Wall of Fame" to honour those who have swum the channel and celebrate their achievements.

Why not stay an extra night or two? There's plenty to see and do round here.... click HERE for some suggestions
